🇮🇸 Iceland | Integrated system for port storage
In port environments, the storage of powdered cement is not only a matter of capacity, but also of structural reliability, operational continuity and resistance to environmental conditions.
In this project carried out in Iceland, Poggi provided an integrated solution for port cement storage, designed to operate in a context characterized by low temperatures, wind and marine environment.
The project involved the construction of three vertical bolted silos of 1,300 m³ each, with a diameter of 9.5 meters and a height of 30 meters, for a total capacity of approximately 3,900 m³.
The vertical configuration made it possible to:
- Maximize storage capacity on the dock
- Reduce ground footprint
- Ensure continuity between ship unloading and truck loading
Poggi designed and developed the entire project, going beyond silo supply by leveraging its engineering expertise: support structures, operator safety solutions and full coordination of installation activities, acting as an industrial partner.
The adopted solutions, including protective structural enclosures and components resistant to salt exposure, ensured long-term reliability and operational continuity in complex environmental conditions.
