Structural Reliability, No Assembly, Maximum Versatility
Poggi S.p.A. Monolithic Vertical Silos are designed for the storage of bulk materials in powder form, such as cement, lime, fly ash, premix products and granular materials. Ideal for concrete batching plants, industrial construction and powder material logistics, they represent a reliable and ready-to-use solution.
The structure, fully welded, can be manufactured in different materials such as carbon steel using controlled welding processes. The result is a single-body structure, without mechanical joints or critical points, ensuring maximum mechanical tightness, long service life and resistance to weather conditions.
Thanks to the monolithic configuration, silos are delivered ready for use, eliminating the need for on-site assembly. This significantly reduces installation time and simplifies logistics operations, improving overall process safety.
Silos are available in different capacities and diameters. Each solution can be adapted to customer operational requirements, with the possibility to integrate: safety valve, dust filter, fluidization system, level indicator, ladders and safety cages, anti-corrosion treatments and customized coatings, including corporate colors and logo.
Each component is carefully selected and assembled to reduce maintenance requirements and extend the service life of the silo.

Operation and Safety
In monolithic silos, every component is designed to ensure structural stability, operational safety, and long-term functionality, even in complex environmental conditions.
This section presents the main technical elements that characterize the silo’s operation, with particular attention to the devices that optimize material handling and support operational continuity. The internal geometry, combined with the configuration of the discharge hopper, promotes uniform material distribution and a smooth flow toward the outlet, reducing the formation of buildups, air pockets, or dead zones. This allows for maximum use of storage capacity, improves operational continuity, and ensures efficient transfer, even with bulk materials of varying types.
The discharge cone, located at the bottom of the silo, has a standard inclination of 53°, optimized to ensure a smooth material flow. Upon request, it can be configured with a 60° inclination, a solution that further improves emptying and reduces the risk of buildup or residue, enhancing the overall efficiency of the extraction process.
The Poggi silo is equipped with a safety system designed to prevent overpressure or underpressure situations.
To start loading, the operator connects the pipe to the silo by moving a handle: this action activates an indicator on the control panel. Only at this point can the butterfly valve be opened from the control panel, allowing material to enter. This procedure ensures that loading occurs only when the silo is properly ready, preventing overloading or unsafe operations.
Reinforcement belts in monolithic silos are hoops positioned along the joints of the various sections that make up the structure. This element is designed to increase structural strength and ensure silo stability, especially in the areas most stressed during material loading and unloading. Upon request, for applications requiring specific aesthetic or construction features, the silo can be manufactured without external belts, resulting in a completely smooth surface.
It is possible to apply different types of internal lining, selected according to the nature of the material to be stored. These linings serve a dual purpose: they protect the internal surfaces from wear, abrasion, or corrosion, and at the same time facilitate the flow of material toward the outlet, reducing friction and buildup. The correct choice allows for optimized operational efficiency and extends the silo’s service life.
DISCHARGE SYSTEM
In Poggi monolithic silos, material extraction occurs by gravity through a large conical bottom hopper (standard inclination 53°, optional 60°), designed to facilitate discharge even with high-density materials or large volumes. The system can be configured with butterfly valves, pneumatic valves, or external screw conveyors, depending on the intended use and the type of connected plant.
VIBRATION SYSTEMS
To ensure complete emptying of the silo even with difficult materials, electric vibrators or selective vibration systems can be installed, adjusted according to the type of content. This reduces discharge time and prevents the formation of bridges or blockages.
FLUIDIZATION SYSTEMS
Fluidization plates or nozzles positioned at the lower part of the silo introduce compressed air to keep powdery or light materials in motion. The system is particularly suitable for fly ash, lime, industrial flours, and technical powders.
TIMED DOSING
A practical and economical system, ideal for continuous production where regularity is more important than precision. The material quantity is dosed by setting a timer according to the silo’s nominal flow rate. It is a simple yet effective solution, especially in plants with homogeneous materials and repetitive cycles.
ELECTRONIC DOSING WITH LOAD CELLS
For applications requiring precision and traceability, a subtractive weighing system can be integrated. Load cells connected to an electronic terminal ensure accurate dosing (±3% for extractions >250 kg), with cycle recording, recipe management, and PLC interface. Auxiliary functions such as vibration or fluidization can activate automatically upon reaching predefined weight thresholds.
REMOTE MANAGEMENT AND TRACEABILITY OPTIONS
Upon request, dosing systems can be integrated with digital interfaces for remote control, data viewing from external terminals, and automatic report generation. This allows advanced silo management even from a distance and full integration into automated plants or Industry 4.0 environments.
