Operation and safety

Poggi pneumatic horizontal silos are designed to ensure maximum efficiency in the transport and storage of bulk materials in powder or granular form, thanks to an integrated pneumatic system that guarantees a constant and controlled flow.

The material is loaded into the silo by gravity, and the entire system is then pressurized to facilitate pneumatic discharge towards the usage lines.

Each component of the pneumatic horizontal silo from the main body to the discharge system, up to the air ducts is designed to facilitate loading, reduce emptying times, and minimize residue formation. The horizontal geometry, combined with fluidization devices and dedicated valves, ensures uniform material distribution and efficient transfer to conveying lines.

CONE WITH FLUIDIZING MEMBRANE

In Poggi pneumatic horizontal silos, material discharge is facilitated by a perforated membrane positioned in the discharge cone. This membrane allows the injection of controlled air which, evenly distributed, creates a fluidized surface inside the cone. This reduces friction and ensures a regular and continuous material flow towards the outlet.

DISCHARGE SYSTEM
Material extraction occurs by gravity through a conical bottom hopper designed to facilitate discharge even with high-density materials or large volumes. The system can be configured with butterfly valves, pneumatic valves, and external discharge screws, depending on the application and the connected plant.

VIBRATION SYSTEMS
To ensure complete emptying of the silo, even with difficult materials, electric vibrators or selective vibration systems can be installed, adjusted according to the type of content. This reduces discharge times and prevents bridging or blockages.

FLUIDIZATION SYSTEMS
Fluidization pads or nozzles positioned in the lower part of the silo introduce compressed air to keep powdery or light materials in motion. Particularly suitable for cement, hydrated lime, fly ash, and other light, powdery materials.

Material dosing

VOLUMETRIC DOSING
Material dosing is carried out by screw, adjusting the operating time based on the nominal capacity of the silo. A reliable solution that ensures operational continuity and consistent output, particularly suitable for homogeneous materials and repetitive work cycles.

ELECTRONIC DOSING WITH LOAD CELLS
For applications requiring precision, traceability, and certified dosing, a loss-in-weight weighing system can be integrated. Load cells connected to an electronic terminal ensure accurate measurements, with cycle recording and controlled, verifiable recipe management.

REMOTE MANAGEMENT AND TRACEABILITY OPTIONS
On request, dosing systems can be integrated with digital interfaces for remote control, data visualization from external terminals, and automatic report generation. This enables advanced silo management even remotely and full integration into automated plants or Industry 4.0 systems.

Dust filtration

TOP FILTER
Mounted directly on the silo roof, the top filter is designed to capture and retain vented dust generated during pneumatic loading. The system operates continuously and automatically, without the need for manual intervention, helping to keep the surrounding environment clean and improve operational safety. Efficient separation between air and solid particles reduces the risk of atmospheric emissions and preserves the integrity of the stored material, preventing waste and contamination. Depending on the type of material stored in the silo, different filter types can be installed, optimized for particle size or chemical characteristics of the handled dust.
